Our Major Milestones
Convoy for Kids Sydney (CFKS) was formed by Truck Drivers
Out of every 20 drivers, at least one had, had dealings with the Children’s Hospital. With the help of some small Companies and the TWU (NSW Branch), the first Convoy was formed. 300 trucks were involved, culminating in a Picnic Day at Luddenham, where there were Raffles, Auction and a sausage sizzle. The Convoy raised $10,000 for the Royal Alexandria Hospital for Children.
2nd Year
CFKS became aware of the NRMA CareFlight Helicopter Service, which not only transports adults, but transfers babies and children from as far away as Canberra and Western NSW, for urgent Medical treatment at both Children’s Hospitals. With growing Sponsorship from Franklins Ltd., Linfox, Australia’s Wonderland and TWU (NSW Branch), 610 trucks went from Camellia to Wonderland. Auction, Raffle, Static Displays and the model of the New Children’s Hospital at Westmead raised $40,000.
3rd year
CFKS was now in its 3rd year and raised $72,000 for the Parent’s Waiting Room at the New Children’s Hospital at Westmead and NRMA CareFlight. 900 trucks took part in the day at Wonderland.
4th year
The 4th CFKS raised $90,000 for the Parent’s Waiting Room at the New Children’s Hospital at Westmead and NRMA CareFlight. Franklins Ltd. Donated a car for the Major Raffle. This was the first year inside Wonderland a crowds exceeded 16,000.
5th year
The 5th Anniversary was our JUMBO event. The lead truck transported an elephant on a low loader. 1,500 trucks left Camellia and drove to Wonderland. Franklins Ltd. And Natroads donated a Ford Festiva for the Major Raffle The day raised $100.000 for the Liver Transplant Unit at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and NRMA CareFlight.
6th Year
6th Anniversary saw 1,200 trucks leave Camellia and went to Eastern Creek Raceway. Over $60,000 was raised for the Rehabilitation Unit at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick and NRMA CareFlight. Rural Fire Services assisted with parking, cooking and displays.
7th year
7th Anniversary saw 700 trucks leave Camellia and proceed to Eastern Creek Raceway. Rain preceded the event and kept numbers down. $55,000 was raised for the Rehabilitation Unit at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick and NRMA CareFlight.
8th year
8th Anniversary saw 800 trucks leave Camellia and proceed to Wonderland. For the first time rain fell. The position of lead was auctioned and added $5,000 to the $60,000 raised for the Cranio-facial Unit at the New Children’s Hospital Westmead and NRMA CareFlight.
9th year
9th Anniversary was marked by a Family Fun Day at Luddenham Showground. Due to the Olympic Games we were unable to run the Convoy. $30,000 was raised for the Eye Department (for the purchase of a Ret-Cam) at the New Children’s Hospital at Westmead and NRMA CareFlight.
10th year
10th Anniversary was lead by a 4 Trailer Road Train, owned by Tony Turner, Orange and a Triple B Double owned by 1st Fleet. 600 trucks were part of the Convoy. The Convoy left Camellia and traveled to Wonderland. $53,000 was raised for the Eye Department (final payment on the Ret-Cam) and NRMA CareFlight.
11th year
11th Anniversary saw 700 trucks leave Huntingwood and travel to Sydney Olympic Park. Sydney Olympic Park is now the Official Home of Convoy for Kids Sydney Inc. Over $75,000 was raised for the Oncology Pharmacy and Diabetes Unit at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and NRMA CareFlight.
12th year
12th Anniversary saw 900 trucks travel to Sydney Olympic Park. Over $80,000 was raised for the Surgical Department at the Children’s Hospital Westmead and Telstra ChildFlight. The Family Fun Day was a great success with entertainment by Adam Harvey and Lonnie Lee and the Leemen.
13th year
13th Anniversary saw over 500 trucks travel to Sydney Olympic Park. $45,000 was raised for Rett Syndrome Research and the Neurological Unit at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Telstra ChildFlight.
14th year
14th Anniversary saw over 300 trucks travel to Sydney Olympic Park. $45,000 was raised for a CRYOSTAT machine for the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Telstra Child Flight.
15th year
15th Anniversary saw over 500 trucks travel to Sydney Olympic Park. $60,000 was raised for the purchase of a Haemodialysis Machine for the Renal Treatment Centre at Westmead Children’s Hospital and Telstra Child Flight.
16th Year
16th Anniversary Convoy topped the MILLION DOLLARS raised for children’s charities. The purchase of a Beta Scintilliation Analyser for the Children’s Hospital Hospital at Westmead and a $15,000 donation to Telstra Child Flight.
17th Year
17th Anniversary Convoy raised $75,000. The purchase of a Portable Ultrasound Device for the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and a $12,500 donation to Telstra Child Flight.
18th year
18th Anniversary Convoy raised $70,000 for the purchase of Equipment for NETS (Newborn & Paediatric Emergency Transport Service) and Telstra Child Flight.
19th year
19th Anniversary Convoy raised $58,000 for the purchase of Equipment for NETS and Telstra Child Flight. This was an Great amount due to torrential rain all day.
20th Year
20th Anniversay Convoy raised over $70,000 for NETS and Telstra Child Flight.
21st year
21st Anniversary Convoy raised over $80, 000 for NETS.
22nd year
22nd Anniversary Convoy raised over $60, 000 for NETS.
23rd year

We raised and donated $99,900 to NETS for 3 new Tempus Pro monitors + 3 new Tempus LS Defibulators.

We raised and donated $63,000 which purchased a Terason Ultrasound Tablet – this one little device could save a life.
